2001 Audi S8 4.2L Petrol · S8 NRO

The vehicle presents a high level of roadworthiness with a consistently clean MOT history over the last five years. The most recent test in January 2026 at 116,188 miles resulted in no defects, mirroring the results of previous passes dating back to 2021. This suggests a stable maintenance environment where the vehicle has met minimum standards without recurring mechanical or structural failures during the inspection process. The mileage profile is notably low for a twenty-five-year-old averaging approximately 4,600 miles per year. Data from August 2021 to January 2026 shows the car covered only 2,169 miles, indicating periods of very light use or long-term storage. While this low mileage reduces the wear on the engine and drivetrain, the significant gaps between tests, such as the fourteen-month interval between October 2023 and January 2025, often increase the risk of age-related degradation and fluid breakdown rather than mechanical fatigue. Despite the lack of recorded MOT faults, a buyer must focus on components susceptible to age and low-mileage neglect. A physical inspection should target the suspension bushes and coil springs for cracking or perished, as well as the brake system for corrosion or seized calipers resulting from sitting. The vehicle's age also necessitates a thorough check of the chassis and subframes for structural rust, given that the MOT tester only identifies corrosion once it reaches a point of structural failure. Additionally, all rubber components and coolant hoses should be examined for dry rot to ensure the vehicle remains reliable despite its long periods of inactivity.
