2004 Vauxhall Corsa 1.2L Petrol · SC53 KCJ

The latest MOT test for the 2004 VAUXHALL CORSA was completed on 2024-02-08 and resulted in a PASS, indicating that the vehicle met all regulatory standards at that time. However, the recent history reveals a mixed pattern: three passes followed by a single failure on 2024-01-23. This inconsistency suggests that while the car has generally maintained a pass record, there are periods of underperformance that warrant closer scrutiny. The vehicle has been serviced regularly, with no major defects reported, but the recurring nature of the failed test in early 2024 raises concerns about potential suspension or braking issues that may have developed over time. The recorded mileage of 38,923 miles places the car in a relatively low usage category for its age, approximately 22 years old. At around 1,769 miles per year, this is significantly below the typical wear rate for a vehicle of this make and model, especially when considering the 38,923 recorded miles. This suggests the car has likely been parked or stood for extended periods, which can accelerate wear on critical systems such as the suspension, brakes, and drivetrain. Inspectors should pay particular attention to the condition of the suspension bushes, the integrity of the coil springs, and the binding calipers for any signs of binding or excessive play. For buyers, the absence of recurring defects in the recent MOT history is a positive sign, but the isolated failure in early 2024 should not be overlooked. It is advisable to conduct a thorough pre-purchase inspection focusing on tyre condition, checking for cracks or perishing on the sidewalls, verifying the 12V battery health, and confirming that all fluid levels are within specification. Additionally, reviewing the service book stamps for the past 12 months will help confirm consistent maintenance. If the vehicle has been well-maintained overall, the risk remains manageable, but vigilance during the test drive is essential to catch any emerging issues.
