2016 Ford Freedom 1.5L Diesel · SF16 HFY

The most recent MOT, conducted on 14 August 2025 at 78,459 miles, resulted in a pass, confirming the vehicle met minimum roadworthiness standards at that time. The maintenance trend presents a mixed picture rather than a clearly improving or worsening trajectory. Tyre wear has been a persistent issue across multiple tests, while a new advisory regarding the nearside rear shock absorber appeared in the latest test, suggesting a developing suspension concern. The vehicle has consistently passed its MOTs, but the recurring nature of certain faults indicates that basic consumable upkeep has been reactive rather than proactive. The mileage accumulation of approximately 7,846 miles per year over a decade is typical for a vehicle of this age and does not raise immediate concerns about excessive wear or suspiciously low usage. The interval between the July 2023 test at 65,315 miles and the August 2024 test at 74,028 miles shows a gain of 8,713 miles in roughly one year, which is consistent with regular use. The current recorded mileage of 78,459 miles, as of June 2026, reflects only a modest increase of 4,431 miles since the last MOT in August 2025, suggesting the vehicle has seen lighter recent use or has been standing for periods. A buyer should pay close attention to the condition of all four tyres, particularly the inner edges, as inner tyre wear has been flagged at nearly every test since 2022. This recurring pattern suggests potential alignment issues, worn suspension bushes, or damaged tracking geometry that has not been permanently addressed. The nearside rear shock absorber advisory from the August 2025 test at 78,459 miles, noting a light misting of oil, warrants a physical inspection for damping performance and potential replacement. Front brake pads were flagged as wearing thin in the July 2022 test at 50,385 miles, meaning the current brake components have covered roughly 28,000 miles since that advisory, so pad thickness and disc condition should be verified. The windscreen wipers were flagged as ineffective in the failed August 2024 test and a defective offside wiper blade appeared in July 2023, indicating that wiper maintenance has been inconsistent. Beyond the documented advisories, a prospective buyer should inspect the underside for corrosion, particularly around suspension mounting points, brake lines, and exhaust components, as structural integrity issues are not always visible in MOT data alone. The repeated tyre wear advisories strongly suggest having a four-wheel alignment check carried out before purchase, as unresolved geometry faults will continue to destroy tyres at expense to the owner.
