2023 Volkswagen Caddy Maxi C20 Commerce TSI 1.5L Petrol · SG23 VSC

The Volkswagen Caddy Maxi C20 Commerce in question carries a clean MOT history, having passed its most recent test on 12 February 2026 at 33,187 miles with no defects or advisories recorded. This suggests a stable roadworthiness trend over the past five months, though the sparse data limits broader historical insight. The absence of recurring faults or advisories in the single available test implies no obvious mechanical or structural issues were detected at that point. However, the lack of prior MOTs means there is no evidence of how the vehicle performed before February 2026, leaving critical components like suspension bushes, coil springs, and brake calipers unassessed for consistent wear patterns. The recorded mileage of 33,187 miles over approximately three years—roughly 11,062 miles annually—falls within the expected range for a vehicle of this age. There are no gaps or spikes in mileage to suggest prolonged neglect or excessive use, though the absence of earlier MOTs prevents confirmation of whether maintenance was consistently applied before February 2026. The current mileage aligns with typical commercial usage, though buyers should verify whether service intervals were adhered to, as TSI engines and transmissions require precise timing for oil changes and fluid replacements. Given the limited MOT data, an in-person inspection should prioritise critical wear items that are not captured by the test. Focus on the suspension, particularly the rear axle bushes and coil springs, as these are common failure points in this model and often go undetected without a thorough mechanical check. The brakes—including caliper binding, disc warping, and pad thickness—should be inspected for uneven wear or corrosion, especially if the vehicle has seen mixed duty cycles. Structural integrity, particularly around the wheel arches and sills, should be examined for signs of corrosion, as commercial vehicles are prone to salt and debris ingress. The exhaust system should also be checked for leaks or excessive rust, as emissions systems can fail silently without visible defects. Given the lack of historical context, these components warrant immediate attention.
