A pattern of recurring tyre wear and minor brake discrepancies defines the recent mechanical history of this vehicle, despite the most recent test on 29 May 2026 resulting in a pass with no recorded defects. The records from 2024 and 2025 indicate a trend of uneven or edge-worn tyres on the rear axle, specifically noting the nearside rear tyre worn close to the legal limit in 2025 and both nearside and offside rear tyres showing similar edge wear in 2024. This suggests a recurring issue with tyre longevity or tread distribution that was not present in the 2022 or 2023 inspections. The recorded mileage of 49,243 miles over a 21-year lifespan represents a low annual accumulation of approximately 2,345 miles. While this low usage profile reduces the cumulative wear on high-friction drivetrain components and engine internals, it necessitates a closer inspection of components that can degrade through inactivity or infrequent use. Low-mileage vehicles often experience different wear patterns than high-mileage counterparts, where components like rubber bushes, seals, and tyre sidewalls may undergo age-related degradation regardless of the distance travelled. Prospective buyers should pay specific attention to the rear suspension geometry and alignment, given the repeated advisories regarding tyres being worn on the edges. During a test drive, listen for irregular road noise or vibrations from the rear of the car and check for any pulling or instability when cornering. The 2024 advisory regarding the offside rear parking brake being slower than the nearside should also be verified; ensure the handbrake engages firmly and holds the vehicle securely on an incline, as uneven braking force can indicate binding calipers or cable tension issues. The absence of defects in the 2026 test suggests that the previously noted tyre issues have been addressed, but the underlying cause of the uneven wear should be investigated. A thorough inspection of the rear suspension bushes, coil springs, and any adjustable camber or toe settings is advisable to ensure the vehicle is tracking correctly. Any sensation of a knock or clunk from the rear suspension over uneven surfaces would warrant a detailed examination of the mounting points and linkages to ensure structural and mechanical integrity.
