2009 Citroen Berlingo 1.6L Diesel · SM09 VYK

This Citroën Berlingo has maintained a consistent MOT pass history over the past five years, with no defects recorded in any of the tests conducted between November 2021 and December 2025. The most recent inspection on 2025-12-02 confirms the vehicle remains compliant with current roadworthiness standards, though the absence of advisories or minor faults means no specific areas of concern were highlighted. This pattern suggests the vehicle has been kept in stable condition, though it does not preclude underlying issues that may not have been detected during standard MOT testing—such as hidden corrosion, worn suspension components, or gradual drivetrain degradation. The recorded mileage of 97,474 miles over approximately 17 years—roughly 5,734 miles annually—indicates unusually light usage for a vehicle of this age. There are no significant gaps in the MOT schedule, and the consistent pass dates imply regular testing without extended periods off-road. While low mileage generally correlates with reduced wear on high-stress components like brakes and suspension, it can also indicate prolonged periods of inactivity, which may accelerate corrosion in critical areas such as wheel arches, sills, and underbody panels. The lack of advisories does not rule out rust progression in less visible regions, particularly if the vehicle has spent time in damp or coastal environments. Given the absence of MOT-reported faults, a buyer should prioritise an independent inspection of the suspension system, focusing on coil springs, bushes, and dampers for uneven wear or cracking. The brakes—particularly the rear calipers and discs—should be checked for binding or excessive heat buildup, as these are common failure points in older vehicles with low mileage but prolonged service life. Underbody and wheel arch corrosion should be thoroughly examined, especially around the sills and rear wheel housings, where rust can compromise structural integrity without immediate MOT failure. Tyre condition, despite not being flagged, warrants verification, as low mileage does not guarantee tread depth or sidewall integrity has been maintained. Finally, the exhaust system should be inspected for leaks or excessive corrosion, as emissions-related components often degrade gradually without immediate MOT consequences.
