2023 BMW R 1250 GS TE 1.3L Petrol · SW23 AAJ

The 2023 BMW R 1250 GS TE has achieved a clean PASSED result in its most recent DVSA MOT test conducted on 2026-05-18, with no recorded defects or advisories. This outcome represents a stable maintenance record, as there is no prior MOT history available to compare against, but the absence of any failures or advisories in the single test suggests consistent compliance with roadworthiness standards. The vehicle’s overall condition appears to be well-maintained to date, with no evidence of progressive wear issues or recurring problems that might indicate neglect or underlying mechanical degradation. The recorded mileage of 3,636 miles is remarkably low for a three-year-old motorcycle, equating to approximately 1,212 miles annually. Such a low usage rate is unusual for a touring motorcycle of this class, which typically accumulates far greater mileage under regular operation. The disparity between the vehicle’s age and mileage may suggest periods of prolonged inactivity, potentially leading to subtle but critical issues. For instance, standing for extended durations can accelerate corrosion in the exhaust system, particularly around welds and heat shields, while the 12V battery may struggle to maintain charge due to reduced electrical demand. Additionally, standing brakes—where the calipers remain in contact with the discs—can cause corrosion, leading to binding or reduced braking performance over time. Given the vehicle’s low mileage and apparent clean MOT history, prospective buyers should conduct a thorough physical inspection to address potential age-related and standing-use vulnerabilities. First and foremost, examine the tyres for signs of sidewall perishing or cracking, which can compromise structural integrity and safety, especially if the motorcycle has been stored without regular use. Check the battery terminals for corrosion and ensure the battery holds a charge when tested, as prolonged disuse can lead to sulfation or failure. Inspect the exhaust system for rust or corrosion, particularly around the heat shields and welds, and listen for unusual noises or emissions during a test drive to confirm there are no leaks or structural weaknesses. The suspension components, including coil springs, shock absorbers, and suspension bushes, should be checked for wear or excessive play, as standing can accelerate wear in these areas. During a test drive, pay particular attention to the braking system for any signs of binding calipers, uneven disc wear, or a shuddering feel that could indicate brake disc corrosion or warping. Test the clutch and gearbox for smooth engagement and listen for unusual grinding or rattling noises that might suggest internal wear or misalignment. Finally, verify that all fluids—oil, coolant, and brake fluid—are at the correct levels and free from contamination, as standing can lead to fluid degradation over time. While the MOT history is clean, a comprehensive inspection will help identify any hidden issues that may arise from the vehicle’s low usage profile, ensuring the motorcycle remains safe and reliable for future use.
