2022 Volvo V90 Momentum B4 Mhev Auto 2.0L Hybrid electric (clean) · SY22 GZG

The 2022 Volvo V90 Momentum B4 MHEV Auto received a clean pass at its most recent DVSA MOT test on 2025-12-01, indicating no roadworthiness defects or advisories were present at that time. Given the absence of any prior MOT failures or recurring issues in the vehicle’s history, the maintenance trend is stable and consistent with a well-maintained example of this model. The lack of advisories or conditional failures suggests that the vehicle has not encountered critical mechanical or safety-related problems, reinforcing its suitability for further use without immediate concerns over structural or operational integrity. The recorded mileage of 12,893 miles for a vehicle aged four years represents a relatively low annual usage rate of approximately 3,223 miles per annum. Such low mileage can arise from either light operational demands or prolonged periods of stationary use, which may lead to specific wear patterns distinct from higher-mileage counterparts. For instance, standing for extended periods can accelerate corrosion in brake systems, particularly on the stationary side of the braking assembly, where rust may form on brake discs or calipers. Additionally, fluid degradation—such as brake fluid, differential fluid, or coolant—can progress more rapidly when the engine and drivetrain are not regularly operated, potentially leading to reduced lubrication efficiency or system inefficiencies over time. The suspension components, including coil springs, shock absorbers, and suspension bushes, may also show signs of wear if the vehicle has been stationary for long durations, as these elements can stiffen or degrade due to lack of dynamic loading. Given the clean MOT history and low recorded mileage, prospective buyers should conduct a thorough physical inspection to address potential issues arising from limited usage. Begin with a visual and tactile assessment of the tyres, paying particular attention to the sidewall for signs of cracking, perishing, or dry rot, which can compromise tyre integrity and safety over time. The brake system should be scrutinised for any signs of corrosion on the discs or binding within the calipers, especially on the side that has not been actively used. A test drive is essential to evaluate the brake response, listening for unusual noises such as grinding or squeaking, and checking for any signs of uneven wear or pulsation that could indicate warped discs or hydraulic issues. The battery should be inspected for signs of corrosion around terminals and tested for charge retention, as low usage may have led to reduced electrical system efficiency. During the inspection, focus on the fluid levels and condition of critical systems. The engine oil should be checked for clarity and absence of contaminants, with a note taken of its age—oil that has been unused for extended periods may have degraded significantly. The differential and transmission fluids should also be assessed for colour and viscosity, as stagnation can accelerate degradation. The coolant system should be checked for leaks or signs of contamination, and the exhaust emissions system should be visually inspected for corrosion or blockages, which could affect performance and compliance with emissions standards. Finally, the vehicle’s service history should be reviewed, particularly for any scheduled maintenance such as timing belt replacement (if applicable), suspension component servicing, and fluid top-ups, to ensure that time-based maintenance has been adhered to. If the service book is not available, a professional inspection should be arranged to verify the absence of any deferred maintenance tasks.
