2007 Vauxhall Astra 1.6L Petrol · TF07 HEV

The Vauxhall Astra presents a stable roadworthiness record over the past five years, with the most recent MOT test in December 2021 at 74,404 miles passing without any defects. This consistency continues a trend of clean results since November 2018, when the vehicle briefly failed—though no specific faults were recorded in that instance. The absence of advisories or defects in the three subsequent tests suggests that any issues were either minor enough to pass unnoticed or addressed promptly by the owner. For a vehicle of this age and mileage, this level of compliance is rare, indicating either meticulous maintenance or a history of low-impact use. The mileage progression reveals a vehicle that has seen minimal use, averaging just 3,916 miles per year over its 19-year lifespan. Between November 2018 and December 2021, the odometer remained static at 67,155 miles for nearly three years, only advancing to 74,404 by the final test—an accumulation of just 7,259 miles in over five years. Such low mileage raises questions about whether the car has been stored for extended periods or driven infrequently, which can accelerate wear on components like rubber seals, suspension bushes, and battery health. The lack of mileage growth also means consumables such as tyres, brake pads, and wiper blades may have been replaced less frequently than recommended, increasing the risk of hidden wear. Given the sparse MOT history, a prospective buyer should prioritise a thorough inspection of suspension components, including coil springs, anti-roll bars, and bushings, as these are prone to degradation even with low mileage. The rear brakes should be checked for binding or uneven wear, particularly if the vehicle has been stationary for long periods, as moisture buildup can cause corrosion. Structural integrity is another critical area—inspect the sills, wheel arches, and underbody for corrosion, especially in older Vauxhall models prone to rust. While the MOT record shows no defects, the prolonged inactivity suggests some wear may have gone unaddressed, making a pre-purchase mechanical check essential.
