2000 BMW Z3 2.0L Petrol · V435 FNJ

The 2000 BMW Z3 demonstrates stable roadworthiness based on its recent MOT history. The most recent test on 2025-06-24 at 72,467 miles resulted in a pass with no defects recorded, aligning with the prior two tests in 2024 and 2023. No recurring mechanical issues or structural concerns were flagged in the last four years, indicating consistent maintenance. The single failure in May 2023 at 71,936 miles is noted but explicitly stated as having no defects, suggesting either a procedural error or a minor non-critical issue resolved before the next test. The vehicle’s mileage of 72,467 miles over 26 years equates to approximately 2,787 miles annually, significantly below average for its age. Notable gaps in mileage progression include a 14-month span from 2022-03-30 (70,244 miles) to 2023-05-16 (71,936 miles), during which only 1,692 miles were added. A subsequent 23-day period from 2023-05-16 to 2023-06-09 saw just 194 miles recorded, raising questions about usage patterns. These intervals may indicate prolonged periods of inactivity, which can accelerate wear on components like suspension bushes, battery health, and fluid degradation. A buyer should prioritise inspecting the vehicle’s suspension system for aged or collapsed coil springs, as low mileage often correlates with infrequent use and potential stiffness. Brake components, including calipers and discs, warrant scrutiny for corrosion or binding, particularly if the car was stored in damp conditions. Structural integrity should also be verified, as rust can develop in hidden areas over time. While the MOT record shows no active defects, the low mileage and irregular usage history necessitate a thorough pre-purchase inspection to confirm the car’s mechanical soundness.
