2002 Honda XRV 0.8L Petrol · V502 OVX

The vehicle presents a high level of roadworthiness with a stable and consistent maintenance trend. The most recent inspection conducted in April 2026 at 30,329 miles resulted in a pass with zero defects, mirroring clean results from the previous three years. This consistency suggests that the vehicle has been maintained to a standard that prevents the accumulation of immediate mechanical failures or structural deterioration during the testing process. The mileage profile is exceptionally low for a 24-year-old Honda, averaging approximately 1,264 miles per year. Between February 2023 and May 2024, the car covered only 85 miles, indicating a significant period of stationary or minimal use. However, the usage increased recently to 3,090 miles between the May 2024 and April 2026 tests. While the low mileage reduces mechanical wear on the drivetrain and engine components, it increases the risk of age-related degradation in rubber and fluids that do not benefit from movement. Despite the clean MOT history, a buyer must focus the physical inspection on components affected by time rather than distance. Low-use vehicles often suffer from perished suspension bushes, split sidew tyres, and degraded brake lines which can become brittle without showing tread wear. The inspector should specifically check for corrosion on the brake discs and calipers, as infrequent use can lead to binding or seizing. Additionally, inspecting the chassis for hidden structural corrosion is vital to ensure that the low mileage has not masked long-term rust common in vehicles of this era.
