2011 Honda Civic 2.0L Petrol · V80 HJS

The 2011 Honda Civic’s most recent MOT test on 2025-10-31 confirms it remains roadworthy, though the immediate preceding test on 2025-10-28—just three days earlier—resulted in a failure without recorded defects. This anomaly suggests either a temporary administrative error or a minor oversight in the testing process, as no mechanical issues were documented. The vehicle’s history since 2022 shows a consistent pattern of annual MOT passes with no advisories or defects, indicating stable maintenance compliance. However, the lack of defects in failures—particularly the 2025-10-28 test—raises suspicion over whether minor issues were overlooked or deliberately ignored. The recorded mileage of 96,741 miles over 15 years reflects an average of approximately 6,450 miles annually, a rate typical for a vehicle of this age. There are no significant gaps in mileage accumulation, nor are there abrupt jumps that would indicate neglect or aggressive driving. The most notable interval is between the 2022 and 2023 tests, where mileage increased by 5,636 miles in just over a year—a steady but unremarkable progression. The absence of advisories or repeated failures suggests the vehicle has not experienced prolonged periods of disuse, though this does not preclude internal wear on components like suspension bushes or drivetrain seals. Given the clean MOT history, the primary focus for an in-person inspection should centre on high-wear items that are not routinely flagged in MOTs. The suspension—particularly the rear coil springs and bushes—should be examined for uneven sagging or excessive play, as these are common points of failure in older Civics. Brake discs and calipers, while not recorded as issues, warrant scrutiny for uneven wear or binding, especially if the vehicle has been driven through wet or heavy loads. Corrosion around wheel arches, sills, and the subframe is another critical area, as the Civic’s underbody is prone to rust progression over time. Finally, the exhaust system should be checked for leaks or excessive rust, as emissions-related failures are infrequently noted in MOTs but can indicate broader structural concerns.
