2006 BMW 120 2.0L Diesel · VO06 RKY

The vehicle presents a stable roadworthiness profile based on its clean MOT history over the last three years. The most recent inspection conducted in December 2022 at 124,461 miles resulted in no defects or advisories, indicating that the car met all minimum safety and emissions standards at that time. While a failure occurred in early December 2020, the immediate re-test the following day suggests a specific, isolated issue that was rectified quickly rather than a pattern of chronic mechanical neglect. The mileage pattern is consistent with a low-use-case vehicle, averaging approximately 6,200 miles per year. The data shows a steady progression, with 1,224 miles recorded between January 2020 and December 2020, and a jump of 6,300 miles between December 2020 and December 2022. This low annual mileage typically reduces the wear on the drivetrain and engine components, though the twenty-year age of the 120-series model means that age-related degradation of rubber components and fluids remains a primary concern regardless of the odometer reading. A buyer should focus their physical inspection on the structural integrity of the chassis and the suspension system, as the MOT record does not show historical advisories for corrosion or bushing wear. Given that the last test was over three and a half years ago, it is vital to verify that no new leaks have developed since 2022. Inspect the underbody for structural rust on the subframe and brake lines, as these are common failure points for this generation of BMW that may not always trigger an MOT failure until they reach a critical state.
