2013 Volkswagen Caddy 1.6L Diesel · VW62 CAD

This Volkswagen Caddy’s most recent MOT in February 2022—just four years ago—confirms a clean pass with no defects recorded at 105,952 miles. While the absence of advisories or failures suggests no recurring mechanical issues were overlooked, the lack of subsequent tests means the vehicle’s current condition cannot be verified beyond that single snapshot. The MOT’s age (nearly four years overdue) introduces uncertainty, particularly for components like brake pads, suspension bushes, and tyre tread, which degrade predictably over time. Without a recent inspection, there is no evidence of proactive maintenance, leaving critical wear items unaccounted for. The recorded mileage of 105,952 miles over approximately 13 years—roughly 8,150 miles annually—falls within the typical range for a vehicle of this age, though it does not indicate aggressive use. The sparse MOT history, with only a single test recorded, makes it impossible to assess whether the vehicle was regularly serviced or driven consistently. The absence of earlier MOTs or service records means there is no data to confirm whether earlier tests revealed issues that may have since worsened or been addressed. Buyers should treat this as a red flag for incomplete documentation, as even minor wear items like brake fluid condition or suspension alignment cannot be reliably inferred. Given the overdue MOT and the lack of recent inspection data, a buyer should prioritise an independent pre-purchase inspection focusing on high-wear areas. The brakes—particularly rear components—should be checked for uneven wear or binding, as the last test did not flag any issues but four years is ample time for pads to degrade or calipers to seize. Suspension bushes and coil springs should be examined for cracking or excessive play, while tyre tread depth and corrosion on wheel arches or underbody should be scrutinised, especially given the vehicle’s age. The absence of any recorded advisories in 2022 does not guarantee these areas remain sound, but a thorough mechanical inspection is essential to rule out silent failures. Structural integrity, particularly around the floorpan and sills, should also be assessed for corrosion, as this is a common failure point in vehicles of this age.
