2006 Vauxhall Astra 1.2L Diesel · VX06 DDZ

The Vauxhall Astra presents as roadworthy with a stable maintenance trend. The most recent test on 9 March 2024 at 111,511 miles returned a pass with no defects recorded, and this clean result follows four consecutive annual passes from March 2020 through March 2023. The vehicle shows no worsening faults, advisories, or repeated failures across the five-year record. Annual mileage sits well below typical expectations for a 2006 hatchback. The record charts 104,059 miles in March 2020 rising to 111,511 miles by March 2024, a total gain of 7,452 miles over four years or roughly 1,863 miles per year. Such low accumulation suggests extended periods of standing or very light local use rather than sustained motorway driving. No gaps appear between tests; each fell within a few days of the prior March date, implying the previous owner kept the test cycle disciplined. A clean MOT sheet with zero advisories does not guarantee absence of wear. Low-use vehicles of this age commonly develop perished rubber suspension bushes, seized brake calipers, and structural corrosion on sills or subframes while idle. The tester logged nothing, yet a 20-year-old Vauxhall merits a physical inspection of coil springs, brake disc condition, and underbody rust before purchase. The buyer should also verify the odometer reading against service stamps, given the unusually low yearly figures. Confirm coolant, cambelt, and brake fluid history, as infrequently driven cars often miss time-based maintenance. The MOT record alone supports a sound verdict, but it reflects statutory minimum standards rather than full mechanical health.
