2002 Honda Civic 2.0L Petrol · WD52 JJY

The vehicle remains roadworthy but the maintenance history shows a trend of deferred mechanical repairs regarding secondary components. While the most recent test in December 2025 at 162,305 miles identified a non-excessive oil leak, the previous three years show recurring issues. The persistent presence of a noisy exhaust and wheel bearing wear across multiple inspections suggests that the owner addressed these faults only when they reached a threshold of failure rather than performing preventative maintenance. The mileage pattern is consistent with a 24-year-old vehicle, averaging approximately 6,700 miles per year. Between December 2021 and December 2025, the car covered 12,667 miles, indicating a steady and low usage rate of roughly 3,100 miles annually. This low mileage is generally positive for the drivetrain, yet it places higher demand on rubber components, suspension bushings, and engine seals, which are prone to age-related degradation regardless of the annual distance driven. A buyer must conduct a close inspection of the nearside rear wheel bearing, which was flagged as noisy in both 2023 and 2024. The recurring exhaust noise noted since 2021 likely indicates corroded hangers or a thinning baffle that requires attention to prevent structural failure. The steering rack inner joint play previously recorded in 2021 should be verified to ensure the condition has not worsened into a significant safety defect. The oil leak identified in the December 2025 test also warrants monitoring to determine if it is a simple valve cover gasket issue or a more costly seal failure.
