2015 Honda Civic 1.8L Petrol · WF65 CWN

A recurring pattern of tyre degradation and brake wear defines the recent mechanical profile of this Honda Civic, despite a consistent history of passing tests since 2018. The most recent inspection on 12 September 2025 returned a pass, but it highlighted continued issues with perishing sidewalls on both nearside and offside rear tyres. This follows a similar advisory regarding tyre condition in 2023, suggesting that while the vehicle remains roadworthy, the rubber components are showing signs of age-related deterioration rather than tread wear. The vehicle's usage profile is notably low, having covered only 23,176 miles over its eleven-year lifespan. This equates to an average annual accumulation of approximately 2,107 miles, which is significantly below standard UK driving averages. While low mileage typically implies less mechanical wear on the engine and drivetrain, such infrequent use can lead to the specific types of advisories seen here, where rubber components like tyres perish due to age and lack of movement rather than being worn down by road use. Prospective buyers should pay close attention to the condition of the tyres, specifically looking for any signs of sidewall cracking or bulging that might indicate the rubber has become brittle. During a test drive, it is essential to monitor the rear braking performance, particularly following the 2024 advisory regarding thinning rear brake pads. Listen for any squealing during low-speed braking or feel for any pulsing through the brake pedal, which could indicate uneven pad wear or disc issues. Given the low annual mileage, further inspection of the vehicle's consumables is advised. Beyond the tyres and brakes, the infrequent operation of the vehicle means that components such as suspension bushes and exhaust systems should be checked for signs of surface corrosion or seized parts that can occur when a car spends long periods stationary. Ensure the vehicle is driven through a variety of speeds to confirm that the braking system and tyre integrity remain consistent under different loads.
