2012 Volkswagen Tiguan 2.0L Diesel · WG12 FWW

The vehicle is roadworthy as of the December 2022 test at 78,164 miles, but the tester flagged slight play in the nearside front inner track‑rod end ball joint. No other defects were recorded, so the overall condition meets the legal standard. The pattern of MOT results shows a stable trend – tyre wear warnings that dominated the 2018 and 2022 April tests have not re‑appeared, and the only current issue is a minor suspension play that does not yet constitute a failure. Mileage has risen from 55,175 miles in June 2018 to 78,164 miles in December 2022, averaging roughly 5,500 miles per year, which is low for a fourteen‑year‑old model. The jump from 68,920 miles in January 2021 to 84,298 miles in April 2022, followed by a drop to 78,164 miles later that year, suggests a possible odometer correction or recording error rather than a sudden surge in use. Apart from that anomaly the mileage progression is smooth and the record contains no long gaps, indicating consistent ownership or regular servicing. A prospective buyer should focus on the suspension and braking components that have recurred in the history. Inspect the nearside front ball joint for any increase in play, and check the condition of the wishbone bushes on both front sides, as the 2018 test noted wear. Examine the front and rear brake pads for thickness, especially since thin pads were flagged in 2018; even though they were not mentioned later, wear can accelerate with age. Verify tyre tread depth and uniformity, given the multiple edge‑wear advisories, and conduct a visual survey for any emerging corrosion on the chassis or exhaust system that was not captured by the MOT.
