2014 Toyota Estima 2.4L Petrol · WO03 WCK

The 2014 Toyota Estima presents a stable and reassuring roadworthiness profile. The most recent MOT, conducted on 24 June 2025 at 264,001 miles, passed with zero defects recorded. This clean sheet extends a consistent pattern of defect-free testing stretching back to June 2022, indicating that the vehicle has been maintained to a standard that consistently meets DVSA thresholds across multiple annual inspections. The maintenance trend is stable, with no recurring faults, advisories, or failures suggesting any underlying mechanical or structural deterioration. The mileage accumulation tells a clear story of sustained, intensive use. Between the June 2022 test at 211,917 miles and the June 2025 test at 264,001 miles, the vehicle covered approximately 52,000 miles in three years, averaging roughly 17,300 miles annually during that window. The annual increments between tests show 18,488 miles between 2022 and 2023, 17,183 miles between 2023 and 2024, and 16,413 miles between 2024 and 2025, suggesting a slight tapering in recent use but still well above typical annual averages for a vehicle of this age. The 2023 test date shows both a pass and a fail recorded on the same day at the same mileage, which typically indicates a retest following a rectified defect, though no specific defect was recorded in either entry. The current recorded mileage of 264,001 is identical to the June 2025 test figure, meaning the vehicle has effectively stood still for over a year as of today's date in June 2026. That prolonged static period warrants attention, as vehicles left unused for extended periods can develop flat-spotted tyres, seized brake calipers, stale fuel, and moisture-related corrosion in brake lines and exhaust components. Despite the clean MOT record, a buyer should approach this vehicle with the scrutiny appropriate for a high-mileage, twelve-year-old people carrier. The suspension system, including front and rear coil springs, shock absorbers, and all bushes, will have absorbed significant cyclic loading over 264,001 miles and should be inspected for sag, leaks, and perished rubber. Brake discs, pads, and calipers deserve close examination given the mileage, particularly the rear calipers which are prone to binding on vehicles of this type. The exhaust system should be checked for corrosion, especially around joints and the rear box, as high-mileage vehicles frequently develop exhaust failures between tests. Tyre condition and age should be verified, as prolonged standing can mask deterioration that MOT tread-depth checks alone do not capture. Structurally, the Estima's bodywork and underframe should be inspected for corrosion, paying particular attention to sills, subframes, and inner wheel arches, as Japanese imports of this era can be susceptible to rust if underseal has degraded. The drivetrain, including the automatic transmission, CV joints, and driveshaft boots, should be assessed for wear consistent with the recorded mileage. A test drive covering varied speeds and road surfaces will reveal any suspension knocks, transmission hesitation, or brake judder that a static inspection cannot. The clean MOT history is encouraging, but it reflects only a snapshot at each test date and does not substitute for a thorough pre-purchase inspection by a qualified mechanic.
