2009 Vauxhall Combo 1.2L Diesel · WP09 YCW

This Vauxhall Combo presents a clean MOT history with no recorded defects across its five most recent tests, though the pattern of consecutive passes and fails—without any advisories or faults—suggests a vehicle that has been maintained to a basic standard but lacks any documented issues. The most recent MOT, conducted on 23 May 2024 at 116,874 miles, passed without incident, indicating the car met all DVSA roadworthiness criteria at that point. The preceding fail on 20 May 2024 at 116,864 miles is unusual, given the absence of defects, and may imply a minor administrative or procedural oversight rather than a mechanical concern. The consistency of passing tests in June of each year—2022, 2023, and the prior 2024 fail—hints at a stable mechanical condition, though the lack of advisories means there’s no evidence of proactive maintenance being prioritised. The mileage accumulation of approximately 6,875 miles per year aligns with typical usage for a vehicle of this age, suggesting it hasn’t been subjected to excessive wear from heavy use or neglected long-term storage. The gap between the 2023 and 2024 tests covers roughly 12,000 miles, a moderate but steady increase, while the 2022 to 2023 interval spans around 8,700 miles. There’s no indication of rapid mileage buildup or prolonged inactivity, which would otherwise raise red flags for suspension wear, seized components, or corrosion. The absence of mileage jumps or extended periods without testing further reinforces the impression of steady, if unremarkable, ownership. Given the complete absence of defects or advisories in the MOT record, a buyer should still conduct a thorough pre-purchase inspection, focusing on components not routinely checked under the MOT scheme. Particular attention should be given to the suspension—specifically the condition of coil springs, anti-roll bars, and rubber bushes—since these are not always scrutinised unless visibly degraded. The braking system, including caliper operation and disc thickness, should be checked for uneven wear or binding, even though the MOT history offers no cause for concern. Structural integrity, particularly around wheel arches, sills, and suspension mounting points, should be examined for signs of corrosion or fatigue cracks, as these are often overlooked in basic compliance tests. While the MOT record suggests no immediate red flags, a detailed inspection will reveal whether the vehicle has been subjected to proper servicing beyond the legal minimum.
