2013 Mercedes-Benz SLK 2.1L Diesel · WP13 FNL

The Mercedes-Benz SLK’s MOT history presents a stable roadworthiness profile, with the most recent test on 16 March 2026 at 79,024 miles passing without defects—a positive indicator of current compliance. The absence of advisories or failures in the last two tests suggests no immediate mechanical or structural concerns were identified by the tester. However, the two consecutive failures in March 2024 and 2025 —both at mileages of 73,801 and 76,991 miles —raise a minor inconsistency, as no defects were recorded to explain them. This could imply administrative errors or undocumented repairs, though the lack of recurring issues in subsequent tests mitigates broader concerns. The vehicle’s ability to pass without major faults in the intervening periods reflects either diligent maintenance or, more likely, a combination of robust build quality and relatively light use for its age. The mileage accumulation aligns closely with expectations for a 13-year-old vehicle, averaging around 6,079 miles per year , which is typical for a car of this vintage. The gaps between tests—particularly the 12-month span between the 2024 and 2025 failures —suggest the vehicle may have spent extended periods in storage or seen limited use, potentially reducing wear on critical components. The rapid 117-mile increase between the two 2025 tests (from 76,991 to 77,018 miles ) is negligible and unlikely to impact long-term reliability. Overall, the mileage pattern does not indicate aggressive driving or neglect, though it does not provide full transparency on servicing intervals. For a prospective buyer, the clean MOT history reduces immediate red flags, but a thorough pre-purchase inspection should focus on suspension integrity , particularly the coil springs and bushings , given the SLK’s sporty handling and potential for wear in these areas. The brake system —including calipers, discs, and pads —should be scrutinised, as binding or uneven wear could have been missed in tests where no defects were logged. Exhaust emissions and structural corrosion in high-stress areas (such as the sills, wheel arches, and underbody) are also worth checking, especially given the vehicle’s age and the possibility of past exposure to salt or moisture. While the MOT record offers reassurance, the absence of documented faults does not preclude hidden wear, so a specialist inspection is advisable before commitment.
