The vehicle maintains a consistently roadworthy status, showing a stable maintenance trend across its recent inspection history. The most recent test conducted in May 2023 resulted in a pass with no recorded defects or advisories, indicating that the motorcycle met all essential safety standards. This consistency suggests that the bike has been maintained to a functional standard without significant mechanical or structural failures emerging during the testing period. The mileage pattern is exceptionally low for an eighteen-year-old motorcycle, averaging only approximately 1,145 miles per year. There is a notable gap in usage between October 2019 and April 2021, where the bike covered only 905 miles over eighteen months, followed by a slow increase to roughly 250 miles in the following year. While this low mileage suggests minimal wear on the drivetrain and engine, the infrequent use indicates the vehicle likely sat for long periods, which can lead to degradation of components irrespective of distance traveled. Given the low mileage and age, a buyer should focus their in-person inspection on age-related decay that is not captured by a standard MOT test. Priority should be given to the rubber components, such as fuel lines, brake hoses, and fork seals, which can perish and crack when dry over time. The tyres should also be checked for flat spotting or hard scaling, as low mileage often results in tyres reaching their age limit before tread limit. Additionally, the buyer must inspect the frame and exhaust for surface corrosion, particularly where moisture may have settled during long-term storage periods. Because the bike has been driven sparingly, it is vital to ensure the brake calipers are not seizing and that the brake fluid has not absorbed moisture. Checking the chain and sprockets for rust will also reveal whether the low-mileage history has masked neglect in basic lubrication and preventative maintenance.
