2012 Honda NC 700 XA-C 0.7L Petrol · WV62 XMF

The vehicle’s most recent MOT test occurred over four years ago, on 2022-02-11 , with the recorded mileage unchanged at 35,951 miles —a highly irregular pattern that suggests either prolonged non-use or deliberate mileage manipulation. The test itself was marked as both passed and failed simultaneously, an anomaly that raises immediate suspicion of either a clerical error or deliberate falsification, as no defects were logged. The preceding clean tests in 2018 and 2017 —each with no advisories or failures—do not compensate for this gap, as the lack of intervening maintenance records leaves critical components unaccounted for. The absence of any advisories in the last valid test implies either a well-maintained vehicle or a failure to disclose genuine issues, but the four-year gap alone is cause for concern regarding suspension wear, brake condition, and potential corrosion. The recorded mileage of 35,951 miles over 14 years —approximately 2,568 miles per year —is unusually low for a motorcycle of this age, particularly given the lack of intermediate MOTs or service records. The abrupt halt in mileage progression between 2017 (20,257 miles) and 2018 (25,243 miles) followed by no further movement until 2022 suggests periods of inactivity, which can accelerate degradation in rubber components (tyres, seals, throttle cables), battery health, and structural integrity. The dual-pass/fail entry in 2022 further complicates trust in the data, as it may indicate either a test centre error or an attempt to extend the MOT period without genuine inspection. Without supplementary service history, it is impossible to verify whether critical fluids (brake, chain lubricant, engine oil) were changed or if routine checks (valve adjustments, chain tension) were performed. Given the lack of recent testing and the suspicious 2022 entry, a buyer should prioritise an independent inspection of brakes, suspension, and structural components . The binding calipers or uneven wear advisories—if they existed—would have been flagged in prior tests, but the four-year gap means suspension bushes, coil springs, and steering head bearings could now be degraded. Tyres, though not explicitly failed, may show uneven wear from prolonged storage, and the battery—if lithium-ion—could be critically depleted. The dual MOT anomaly in 2022 warrants verification of the test centre’s records, as the failure to log defects suggests either a rushed inspection or deliberate concealment. Chain and sprocket condition should also be scrutinised, as low mileage does not preclude wear from neglect. Corrosion, particularly around the frame, exhaust, and undercarriage, should be checked, as static exposure accelerates rust.
