2005 Piaggio ZIP 0.0L Petrol · WX05 XPR

The 2005 Piaggio Zip presents as roadworthy with a stable maintenance trend. The most recent test on 2 January 2024 at 18,500 miles returned a pass with no defects recorded, continuing the clean history seen in the two prior examinations. No advisories or mechanical faults appear across the available record, indicating the machine has not required corrective work within the test scope over the last three cycles. Recorded mileage sits at 18,500 against an age of roughly 21 years, equating to about 881 miles per year. The DVSA data shows 17,752 miles on 11 November 2021, rising to 18,409 by 5 December 2022 and 18,500 by the January 2024 test. That is under 750 miles added across just over two years. The sparse, clean entries reveal a low-use machine with no rapid accumulation and no test gaps beyond the ordinary annual cycle, though only three years of history is supplied. A buyer should still inspect the scooter in person for issues the MOT does not probe. Standing time implied by the low mileage risks perished suspension bushes, flat-spotted tyres, and corroded brake discs or calipers through lack of movement. The January 2024 pass noted no defects, but a 21-year-old frame can hide structural rust at the floor or mounting points not caught on a pass. Check the exhaust for internal rot and confirm the coil springs and head bearings move freely. The previous keeper clearly stored the Zip rather than ran it hard, yet rubber and metal age regardless of miles. A pre-purchase look under the bodywork remains sensible given the age.
