2022 Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD Electric · YE55 AAA

The latest DVSA MOT test for the 2022 Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD, conducted on 2025-06-06, resulted in a clean pass with no recorded defects or advisories. This outcome represents a stable maintenance record, as there are no prior MOT failures or recurring issues to suggest a deterioration in the vehicle’s roadworthiness or underlying mechanical condition. The absence of advisories—such as fluid leaks, excessive vibration, or structural concerns—indicates that the vehicle has been maintained within acceptable standards up to this point, though the absence of a history does not guarantee future longevity without proactive checks. The recorded mileage of 26,331 miles for a four-year-old vehicle corresponds to an annual usage rate of approximately 6,583 miles, which is within the expected range for a modern electric vehicle with efficient driving habits. While lower mileage might imply periods of inactivity or less frequent use, the current figure does not suggest unusually high wear on consumables like brakes, suspension components, or drivetrain elements, which are less prone to failure in electric vehicles compared to internal combustion engines. However, prolonged standing—even in an EV—can lead to issues such as battery degradation from deep discharges, brake disc corrosion from standing brake systems, or potential fluid degradation in hydraulic components if not drained and topped up regularly. The absence of a high-mileage trend does not rule out these risks, especially if the vehicle has been stored for extended periods without maintenance. Given the clean MOT history and moderate mileage, the most critical physical checks for a prospective buyer should focus on the vehicle’s age-related wear and potential standing-related issues. First, inspect the tyres for sidewall perishing or cracking, which can occur over time even with low mileage, particularly in colder climates or when stored without regular use. Check the tyre tread depth for legal compliance (minimum 1.6mm) and look for signs of uneven wear, which could indicate suspension or alignment problems. Next, verify the battery health, as electric vehicles are particularly sensitive to prolonged inactivity. Look for any physical damage to the battery pack, check for proper charging habits, and ensure the vehicle has been used regularly to prevent deep discharge cycles. Additionally, inspect the brake system for signs of corrosion or binding calipers, which can occur when brakes are frequently applied without movement, such as when the vehicle is parked for long periods. For fluid servicing, while EVs do not require traditional oil changes, it is prudent to check the brake fluid reservoir for any signs of contamination or degradation, which can occur over time, especially if the vehicle has been stationary. Ensure the coolant system is properly maintained, as electric vehicles often rely on liquid cooling, and check for any leaks around the radiator or hoses. Finally, perform a visual inspection of the suspension components, focusing on the coil springs, shock absorbers, and suspension bushes for signs of wear or damage. Listen for unusual clunks or rattles during a test drive, particularly when transitioning between rough and smooth road surfaces, as these can indicate failing suspension elements. If the vehicle has been used primarily in urban environments, also check for signs of exhaust emissions compliance, though modern Teslas are designed to meet UK emissions standards without additional testing. A thorough inspection of the undercarriage for corrosion or damage is also advisable, as electric vehicles can be susceptible to rust if stored in damp conditions.
