2009 BMW 118 2.0L Diesel · YK09 NHP

The vehicle presents a stable maintenance profile following a period of recurring consumable wear. The most recent MOT test on 21 October 2022 at 144,376 miles recorded no defects, suggesting that previous mechanical issues were addressed. This follows a more volatile period between 2019 and 2021 where the car faced failures and multiple advisories regarding braking systems and suspension components. The mileage accumulation is consistent with a vehicle of this age, averaging approximately 8,500 miles per year. The records show steady progress from 35,597 miles in February 2012 to the current recorded 144,376 miles. There are no significant gaps in the testing history that would suggest long periods of non-use, although the lack of data since late 2022 means the current MOT status and mechanical condition are now overdue for verification. A prospective buyer should focus on the braking system and suspension, as these areas showed repeated issues. The July 2019 failure for a rear wheel bearing with excessive play and the 2019 advisories for fluctuating service brakes indicate a history of wear in the braking and hub assemblies. The July 2021 test also flagged a leaking nearside front shock absorber and damaged front brake hoses. While the 2022 test was clean, these components are subject to wear and should be physically inspected for leaks, play, or corrosion. Tyre maintenance appears to be a recurring theme in the vehicle's history. Multiple tests, including those in 2020 and 2021, flagged tyres worn to the legal limit or with uneven edge wear. This pattern often suggests infrequent replacement or alignment issues. A thorough inspection of the current tyre tread depth and the condition of the suspension bushes is necessary to ensure the vehicle's handling remains within manufacturer specifications.
