2014 Land Rover Discovery 3.0L Diesel · YS64 JWX

Recurring braking system wear and intermittent electrical faults define the mechanical history of this vehicle. While the test on 6 February 2023 resulted in a pass with advisories for rear tyre wear, the broader record reveals failures involving the ABS system and engine management lighting, alongside chronic pitting of the brake discs and corrosion of the rear metal brake pipes. The roadworthiness trend indicates a vehicle where critical safety components and electronic sensors have required periodic intervention. A recorded mileage of 164,623 miles over twelve years represents a high annual accumulation of approximately 13,719 miles. This level of usage typically leads to accelerated wear on the drivetrain, suspension bushings, and braking consumables. There is a notable gap in the testing record between December 2020 and February 2022, meaning the precise rate of component degradation during that interval is not documented. Prospective buyers should prioritise a physical inspection of the rear metal brake pipes for further pitting and the brake discs for scoring or corrosion. During a test drive, any pedal judder or a spongy feel under braking should be noted as potential evidence of disc distortion or system inefficiency. It is also essential to verify that the ABS and engine management warning lamps remain extinguished throughout the drive, as these were previous points of failure. The most recent advisories regarding rear tyres worn on the edges suggest a need to check the wheel alignment and suspension geometry. Listen for any abnormal droning or humming noises at speed and feel for any knocks or vibrations through the steering wheel when driving over uneven surfaces, which may indicate worn suspension linkages. Ensure the tyre tread depth is checked across the full width of the tyre to confirm that the edge wear noted in 2023 has been addressed.
