2016 Audi A3 S Line TDI Quattro 2.0L Heavy oil · YV16 AHA

The most recent MOT test on 16 November 2024 confirmed this 2016 Audi A3 S Line TDI Quattro as fully roadworthy, with no defects or advisories recorded. The absence of any failures or warnings in the single available test suggests the vehicle passed without mechanical or structural concerns at the time. However, the gap of nearly two years since the last inspection—nearly 10,000 miles since testing—introduces uncertainty. A vehicle of this age and mileage should ideally undergo an MOT every 12 months, and the extended period without verification raises questions about whether any wear or degradation has gone unchecked. The lack of historical data means there is no evidence of recurring issues, but equally, no record of proactive maintenance either. The recorded mileage of 54,463 miles over approximately ten years equates to an average of just over 5,400 miles annually, which is unusually low for a vehicle of this type and age. Such low mileage could indicate limited use, potential storage periods, or even odometer tampering, though the latter cannot be confirmed without further evidence. The sparse MOT history—only a single test in 2024—does not provide a clear trend, but the combination of low mileage and infrequent inspections warrants scrutiny. Buyers should verify whether the vehicle has been regularly driven or stored, as prolonged inactivity can accelerate issues such as battery degradation, tyre degradation, or suspension component drying out. Given the absence of MOT defects and the limited history, an in-person inspection should prioritise components commonly affected by age and mileage. The TDI engine’s diesel particulate filter (DPF) and exhaust emissions system should be checked for clogging or failure, particularly if the vehicle has been driven sporadically. The suspension—including coil springs, bushes, and dampers—should be examined for wear, as should the brake system for uneven pad thickness, binding calipers, or corrosion on discs. Structural integrity, particularly around wheel arches and sills, should be assessed for rust or damage, especially given the vehicle’s age. The low mileage suggests consumables like tyres and wiper blades may still have serviceable life, but their condition should be confirmed independently. Finally, the battery and electrical systems should be tested, as prolonged storage can lead to parasitic drain or failure.
