2003 Alfa Romeo Spider 2.0L Petrol · YW03 AHA

The vehicle’s most recent MOT on 2025-07-04 at 74,639 miles recorded a pass with no defects, but prior tests reveal a pattern of failures without recorded issues. The 2025-06-20 test at 74,627 miles failed, followed by a pass just 14 days later, suggesting potential temporary faults or administrative errors. Subsequent tests in 2024 and 2023 also showed alternating passes and failures without defects, indicating inconsistent compliance rather than escalating mechanical concerns. While the latest result is positive, the lack of detailed failure reasons limits confidence in the vehicle’s long-term reliability. The recorded mileage of 74,639 miles over 23 years equates to an average of 3,245 miles annually, significantly below the UK’s typical usage. This low mileage suggests infrequent use or prolonged periods of inactivity, which can accelerate corrosion, rubber degradation, and fluid stagnation. The MOT history shows minimal gaps between tests, with no evidence of rapid mileage surges. However, the absence of defects in passing tests does not confirm mechanical soundness, as some issues—such as minor leaks or electrical faults—may not trigger immediate failure. A buyer should prioritise inspecting the exhaust system for rust, as low usage increases corrosion risk, and check suspension components for wear, given the vehicle’s age. Brake discs and calipers should be assessed for uneven wear or binding, while the battery and fluids require close attention due to potential inactivity. The lack of recorded defects in MOTs does not eliminate these risks, and a physical inspection is critical to verify the car’s condition beyond the test records.
