2016 Volkswagen Transporter 2.0L Diesel · YX16 UNR

The MOT history for this 2016 Volkswagen Transporter is exemplary. Every annual test from 2021 through 2025 has resulted in a clean pass with zero defects or advisories recorded. The most recent test in May 2025 at 24,090 miles confirms the vehicle is currently roadworthy with no flagged concerns. The maintenance trend is stable and improving in the sense that no issues have ever emerged, which is rare for a ten-year-old commercial vehicle. The recorded mileage is exceptionally low for the age: roughly 2,400 miles per year. The annual increments are consistent and gradual, with no suspicious gaps or sudden spikes. For example, between May 2024 and May 2025 the vehicle covered 4,511 miles, which aligns with moderate use. This pattern suggests the van was not used for heavy commercial duties or long motorway hauls, but rather light, possibly leisure or local runs. Despite the clean record, a buyer should not assume the vehicle is mechanically perfect. Low mileage over a decade can lead to issues from infrequent use, such as corroded brake discs, perished rubber components, and condensation in the engine oil. The absence of MOT advisories is encouraging, but a pre-purchase inspection should focus on the condition of the brake discs and pads, all suspension bushes and ball joints for cracking, and the underside for any structural corrosion, particularly on a van body. A thorough check of the tyres for age-related cracking and the battery for charge retention is also wise. The engine should be started from cold to listen for any unusual noises that might indicate valve or injector issues from short journeys.
