2017 Fiat Doblo 1.4L Petrol · YX67 ARZ

The 2017 Fiat Doblo’s most recent MOT test on 2025-10-02 resulted in a clean pass, with no recorded defects or advisories, and follows a consistent pattern of passing all prior MOT assessments from 2020 through 2025. The vehicle’s maintenance history is therefore stable, with no evidence of deterioration or recurring issues that would suggest neglect or progressive wear beyond routine expectations. The absence of failures or critical advisories in the last five years indicates that the owner has likely adhered to basic roadworthiness standards, though the single advisory from 2021—front brake discs showing wear, pitting, and corrosion—remains a notable but non-failing condition that warrants closer attention. The recorded mileage of 6,394 miles over approximately nine years represents an annual usage rate of just over 700 miles, which is significantly lower than typical for a vehicle of this age and class. Such low mileage often reflects periods of prolonged stationary use, particularly in climates where vehicles are kept indoors or in garages, or in regions with less demanding driving conditions. However, low mileage alone does not guarantee the absence of wear; the 2021 advisory on front brake discs suggests that even with minimal use, components can degrade due to corrosion from standing, especially if the vehicle was exposed to damp or salty environments without regular movement. The lack of higher mileage accumulation in recent years may also imply that the vehicle has been driven infrequently, potentially exacerbating issues like fluid degradation or component stiffness from disuse. Given the clean MOT history and the low mileage profile, the buyer should conduct a thorough inspection focusing on age-related wear and disuse effects. First, examine the front brake discs for signs of further corrosion or pitting beyond the 2021 advisory, checking for any binding or uneven wear that could indicate reduced braking performance. The brake calipers should be inspected for binding or excessive play, which may suggest stiffness from prolonged inactivity. Next, evaluate the tyre condition, particularly the sidewalls, for any signs of cracking or perishing, which can weaken the tyre structure and compromise safety over time. The 12V battery should be tested for voltage output and overall health, as low usage can lead to sulphation or terminal corrosion, reducing reliability. Additionally, the vehicle’s fluids—particularly the engine oil, brake fluid, and coolant—should be checked for degradation, with the oil’s condition assessed for sludge or contamination, and the coolant system flushed if the vehicle has been stationary for extended periods. Finally, a visual inspection of the suspension components, including coil springs and suspension bushes, should be performed for signs of wear or damage, as disuse can lead to stiffness or premature failure. If the vehicle has been kept in a damp environment, the undercarriage and exhaust system should also be inspected for corrosion, especially around the catalytic converter and exhaust manifolds.
