2005 Ford Transit 2.4L Diesel · YY05 SXB

The vehicle presents a consistent and stable maintenance profile with no recorded defects across the last five years of testing. The most recent MOT on 11 November 2025 at 144,280 miles shows a clean pass with no advisories, indicating that the vehicle has maintained a high standard of roadworthiness through its recent inspections. This continuity suggests a disciplined approach to basic maintenance and compliance. The mileage accumulation is steady and aligns with the typical usage for a 21-year-old commercial vehicle. Between the 2021 test at 139,605 miles and the 2025 test at 144,280 miles, the vehicle has covered approximately 4,675 miles over four years. This low annual average of roughly 1,100 miles suggests the van has seen light use or has spent significant time stationary, which avoids the heavy drivetrain wear associated with high-mileage commercial work. While the MOT history is remarkably clean, the age of the vehicle necessitates a thorough physical inspection of structural and suspension components. The absence of recorded corrosion or suspension bushing issues in the MOT data does not rule out the presence of chassis rust or perished rubber components common in older Transits. A buyer should specifically check the underside for structural integrity and inspect the coil springs and shock absorbers for signs of fatigue. Given the low annual mileage, the buyer should also verify that the vehicle has been serviced regularly to prevent fluid degradation. Although the MOT record shows no issues with braking systems or emissions, a physical check of the brake discs and pads is recommended to ensure no binding or excessive wear has occurred during periods of infrequent use.
