The 2001 model year saw the Rover 75 and MG ZT established as two of the finest executive cars produced in the UK. While the Rover 75 focused on luxury with its walnut trim and supple ride, the MG ZT offered sharper handling and sportier aesthetics. The 2.0 CDTi diesel (BMW M47 unit) was introduced as the most reliable and economical engine choice. Build quality was still high as the cars were produced in significant numbers.

The front coil springs are prone to snapping due to corrosion, particularly on UK roads. This is a common MOT failure.
Clunking from the front end, Car sitting lower on one side, MOT failure on broken spring
On the 2.0 CDTi diesel, the in-tank fuel pump and mass air flow sensor are known failure points, causing poor running and loss of power.
