The vehicle currently holds a stable roadworthiness status based on the most recent MOT record. On 24 May 2023 at 26,040 miles, the motorcycle passed the inspection with no defects or advisories recorded. This indicates that at the time of the test, all mechanical and safety components met the minimum legal standards without any immediate requirement for remedial work. The recorded mileage of 26,040 miles over 43 years represents an exceptionally low usage pattern, averaging 606 miles per annum. This low mileage suggests the bike has likely been stored or used sparingly for long periods, which reduces mechanical wear on the drivetrain and engine components. However, since the last test took place over three years ago, the vehicle is now overdue for an annual MOT. A fresh inspection is mandatory to ensure that the infrequent use has not caused degradation of fluid-based systems or perished seals. A buyer must prioritize a physical inspection of rubber components that degrade with age rather than mileage. Check for cracking in the tyres, dry-rott fork seals, and perished brake lines, as these are common on low-mileage vintage motorcycles. Given the age of the machine, the structural integrity of the frame must be scrutinized for corrosion, particularly around pivot points and mounting brackets where moisture may collect. Verify the braking system for binding calipers or seized pistons, as long periods of standing often lead to internal corrosion. Examine the chain and sprockets for excessive stretch or deep rust. While the 2023 pass provides a clean baseline, the significant gap since the last recorded check necessitates a thorough mechanical review of the suspension bushes and electrical wiring before any purchase.
