2018 Volkswagen Tiguan 2.0L Diesel · BO62 HEL

The Volkswagen Tiguan in question demonstrates a consistent roadworthiness record with no defects recorded across five consecutive MOT tests, all passing on the most recent test date of 2025-11-28 at 72,024 miles. This pattern suggests a stable maintenance history without recurring mechanical issues that would warrant advisories or failures. The absence of any advisories or defects over the past five years implies that major components—such as suspension bushes, coil springs, binding calipers, brake discs, or exhaust emissions—have not been compromised beyond standard wear thresholds. However, the lack of advisories does not preclude the need for a thorough pre-purchase inspection, as some wear items (e.g., tyres, wiper blades, brake pads) are not always flagged in MOTs unless they fall below critical limits. The mileage progression of approximately 9,000 miles annually aligns with typical usage for a vehicle of this age, with no unusual gaps or spikes in service intervals. The most recent test occurred just six months ago, which is well within the standard 12-month MOT validity period. There are no red flags in the mileage pattern—no prolonged periods of inactivity that could lead to corrosion or degraded fluids, nor rapid accumulation that would suggest aggressive driving or neglected maintenance. The consistent annual mileage increments also suggest the vehicle has been regularly driven, which generally correlates with better-preserved suspension and drivetrain components. Given the clean MOT history, a buyer should prioritise an inspection of high-wear consumables that are not always captured in MOT tests. Focus on the condition of the brake pads and discs, particularly for uneven wear or glazing, which could indicate binding calipers or misaligned wheels. Examine the suspension for worn or cracked bushes, as well as coil spring integrity, especially if the vehicle has encountered rough terrain. Tyre tread depth and lateral wear patterns should be checked, as the absence of MOT advisories could mean they have been neglected between services. Additionally, inspect for corrosion around wheel arches, sills, and underbody components, as this is a common failure point for vehicles of this age and mileage. Fluid levels—brake, power steering, and engine oil—should also be verified, as these are not routinely checked in MOTs but are critical for long-term reliability.
