2018 Peugeot Expert 2.0L Diesel · GM68 AKV

This 2018 Peugeot Expert presents a notably clean MOT record across the five tests on file from 2021 through 2025, with every examination resulting in a pass and only a single instance of advisory items being recorded. The most recent test on 29 September 2025 returned a clean pass with no defects or advisories, continuing an unbroken run of uneventful roadworthiness outcomes. The only flagged items in the entire history appeared at the 2022 test, where both front brake discs were noted as worn, pitted, or scored though not seriously weakened at that point. The absence of any recurrence or escalation of brake-related advisories over the subsequent three tests is a relevant data point, although it does not guarantee that the discs have not since reached a serviceable limit, as condition between tests is not recorded. Annual mileage averaging around 6,500 miles over the eight-year lifespan places this Expert squarely within typical usage parameters for a vehicle of its age and likely commercial or light fleet role. There are no significant gaps in the testing record, with annual MOTs consistently submitted from 2021 onwards, suggesting the vehicle has remained in regular use rather than being laid up for extended periods. This continuity reduces the likelihood of issues commonly associated with low-use vehicles such as seized brakes, deteriorated rubber components, or moisture accumulation in fluid systems. The moderate annual accumulation means wear on consumables like brake pads, discs, tyres, and suspension components should be proportionate to the recorded mileage rather than disproportionately advanced. Given the brake disc advisories noted in 2022, particular attention should be paid to the front braking system during a pre-purchase inspection. On a test drive, listen for any grinding, squealing, or thumping noises from the front wheels under light or moderate braking, which could indicate the pitted discs have since deteriorated to the point of needing replacement or that the pads have worn unevenly as a consequence of the surface corrosion. Any pedal pulsation, vibration through the steering wheel under braking, or pulling to one side would suggest the discs have worn beyond their service limit or that a caliper is binding. Physically inspect the visible faces of the front discs for a pronounced lip on the outer edge, deep scoring, or a blueing discoloration which would indicate overheating. Check that the front pads still have ample material remaining, as a vehicle that has covered further mileage since 2022 will have continued to consume pad material against those previously noted discs. Beyond the braking system, the test drive should focus on the suspension and steering, which are common wear points on a vehicle of this age and weight class. Listen for clonks, knocks, or creaks from the front suspension over speed bumps, potholes, and uneven road surfaces, paying particular attention to noise from the anti-roll bar drop links, wishbone bushes, and top mounts. Any vagueness in the steering, uneven tyre wear, or pulling to one side under braking or acceleration would warrant closer inspection of the front geometry, bushes, and potentially the subframe mounting points for corrosion. The tyres themselves should be checked for even tread wear across both axles, as inner or outer shoulder wear can point to alignment or suspension geometry issues that would not have been flagged on a standard MOT. Finally, a thorough inspection underneath the vehicle for any signs of fluid leaks, corrosion to brake pipes, or corrosion around structural areas such as the rear crossmember or jacking points is advisable given the age and commercial nature of the vehicle.
