2023 Yamaha YZF R1 21 (YZF1000) 1.0L Petrol · J12 VWG

This Yamaha YZF-R1 lacks any MOT history, rendering a formal roadworthiness assessment impossible. Without test dates, mileage readings, or advisory notes, there is no basis to evaluate maintenance trends, structural integrity, or recurring faults. The absence of even a single MOT record means critical components—such as suspension geometry, brake hydraulic systems, or exhaust emissions compliance—cannot be confirmed as within legal or safe operating limits. Buyers should treat this as a vehicle with a completely unknown service and failure history, necessitating a thorough pre-purchase inspection before any commitment. Mileage data is entirely absent, leaving no way to correlate usage patterns with the vehicle’s age. A 2023 model should have undergone its first MOT by May 2024, but the record shows none. This omission alone suggests either deliberate concealment of service history or that the bike has never been legally tested in the UK. Without mileage figures, it’s impossible to determine whether the bike has been stored, heavily used, or subjected to aggressive riding conditions that could accelerate wear on critical parts like chain tensioners, clutch components, or high-stress suspension linkages. Given the complete lack of MOT data, a buyer must prioritise an independent inspection of high-risk areas. Primary concerns include the suspension —check for worn coil springs, degraded bushings, or binding linkages that could compromise handling. The brake system demands scrutiny: verify disc runout, caliper binding, and hydraulic fluid condition, as past failures often indicate neglected bleeding or seized components. Structural elements like the frame and subframes should be inspected for stress cracks, particularly around welds or high-impact zones, while the exhaust system must be checked for leaks or excessive corrosion, which could affect emissions and structural integrity. The absence of MOT records makes these checks non-negotiable.
