1992 Suzuki RGV250 0.2L Petrol · K593 ARE

A remarkably clean MOT record, punctuated only by recurring minor tyre‑valve‑stem advisories, defines the mechanical profile of this 1992 Suzuki RGV250. The most recent test on 16 March 2023 passed without any recorded defects, and the earlier examinations in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2023 show no failures, indicating a consistent pattern of roadworthiness apart from the small valve‑stem concerns noted in consecutive years. With just 24,796 miles logged over 34 years, the annual average sits around 730 miles, well below typical usage for a sport‑bike of this vintage. The seven‑year gap between the 2016 and 2023 MOTs suggests the machine may have spent extended periods off the public road, which can preserve engine and transmission wear but also allows rubber components, seals and fuel system parts to age in situ. Low mileage generally means less cumulative stress on bearings, clutch plates and brake discs, yet prolonged storage can lead to stiffened hoses, dried‑out gaskets and potential corrosion on the frame or exhaust. The only recorded advisories relate to slightly damaged front and rear tyre valve stems in 2014 and 2015. Prospective buyers should therefore inspect each tyre for signs of slow air loss, punctures or cracked rubber around the valve area, and replace the stems as a routine precaution. While the tyres themselves have not been flagged, any uneven wear, bulging sidewalls or hissing sounds when the bike is pressurised would merit immediate attention and possibly a full tyre replacement. Beyond the valve‑stem issue, the long storage intervals merit a focused examination of the suspension bushings, fork seals and rear shock for cracks, loss of compliance or oil leakage, as well as a thorough check of brake lines, caliper pistons and the master cylinder for corrosion or softening of the rubber. Inspect the fuel tank, petcock and carburettor jets for sediment or degraded seals, and examine the steel frame for rust, especially around welds and mounting points. On a test ride, listen for clunks over bumps, feel for any steering pull, monitor brake pedal firmness and watch for any hesitation or grinding from the clutch; any of these symptoms could indicate wear that has not yet manifested as a MOT defect.
