1998 Honda CBR1100XX 1.1L Petrol · R753 ABU

A consistent record of roadworthiness defines this motorcycle, with a series of clean passes culminating in the most recent test on 17 June 2025. The history shows a stable mechanical trend over the last seven years, with the vast majority of tests returning no defects or advisories, indicating a sustained level of compliance with DVSA standards. The recorded mileage of 80,612 miles is low for a vehicle of this age, averaging approximately 2,879 miles per year. This usage pattern suggests the motorcycle has spent significant periods of inactivity or has been used sparingly. Mechanically, such low annual accumulation can lead to different wear profiles than high-mileage examples, often shifting the focus from drivetrain fatigue to the potential degradation of rubber components and seals due to standing. Attention should be paid to the steering assembly, as a 2022 advisory noted a stiff or notchy steering headbearing. During a test ride, the buyer should feel for any resistance, detents, or a lack of smoothness when initiating low-speed turns or centering the handlebars. Any hesitation or clicking sensation in the steering movement would indicate that the headbearing requires adjustment or replacement. While the 2018 advisories regarding front brake pads and front wheel bearing play have not reappeared in subsequent tests, these components remain critical points of inspection. The buyer should check for any lateral movement in the front wheel and ensure the brake lever provides a firm, consistent response without excessive travel or judder. Verifying the current thickness of the brake pads is essential to ensure they are not nearing the minimum limit.
