2004 Honda CBF600 0.6L Petrol · S60 CBF

The vehicle currently holds a passed MOT status following its most recent test on 22 August 2025 at 39,727 miles. While it remains roadworthy, the maintenance trend shows signs of emerging mechanical wear. The latest inspection flagged a light misting of oil from the offside shock absorber, representing a shift from the clean pass recorded in August 2024 at 32,192 miles. This indicates the onset of a suspension component failure that requires monitoring to ensure it does not progress to a significant leak. The mileage profile is exceptionally low for a 2004 model, averaging approximately 1,800 miles per year. The data shows a consistent, albeit slow, accumulation of distance. Between September 2023 and August 2024, the vehicle covered 6,368 miles, which is a notable increase compared to the much slower progression seen in earlier years. This pattern suggests the motorcycle may have transitioned from long periods of storage to more regular seasonal use. The absence of large gaps in the MOT history since 2011 provides a reliable longitudinal view of the vehicle's condition. A prospective buyer should focus heavily on the braking system and drivetrain. The MOT history reveals a recurring pattern of brake-related issues, including fluctuations in brake effort noted in 2016, 2017, and 2022, alongside reports of binding rear brakes in 2021 and metallic noise near the caliper in 2022. These entries suggest potential issues with caliper sticking or disc surface irregularities. The drive chain has also appeared as a recurring advisory, specifically in 2014 and 2023, which necessitates a physical inspection of chain tension and sprocket wear. The suspension and tyre maintenance also require attention. Beyond the recent shock absorber misting, the record shows a history of tyres being worn close to the legal limit or perishing, particularly in 2021 and 2023. Given the low annual mileage, the rubber may suffer from age-related degradation rather than tread wear. Inspect the engine mounting spacers, which were flagged as deteriorated in November 2022, to ensure they have been adequately replaced and that the engine remains securely seated.
