2003 Land Rover Freelander 2.0L Diesel · WG03 AKK

The 2003 Land Rover Freelander presents a stable roadworthiness profile, with the most recent April 2024 MOT at 156,064 miles recording a pass and no defects. The prior February 2024 test failed but also noted no defects, suggesting a potential administrative or procedural issue rather than a mechanical failure. From 2021 to 2023, the vehicle consistently passed MOTs with no recorded defects, indicating a generally well-maintained condition. The absence of critical issues in recent tests implies the vehicle has been kept in acceptable working order, though the February 2024 failure warrants scrutiny to confirm whether it relates to non-structural factors like emissions or documentation. The mileage progression aligns with typical usage for a 23-year-old vehicle, averaging approximately 6,785 miles annually. The MOT records show consistent intervals between tests, with no significant gaps or abrupt mileage spikes that might indicate neglect or excessive wear. The 156,064-mile mark in April 2024 is the highest recorded, suggesting the vehicle has been driven regularly without prolonged inactivity. This pattern implies a steady maintenance routine, though the lack of detailed defect reports limits insight into specific component wear. A buyer should inspect the suspension system for aged bushes or coil springs, common wear points in older Land Rovers, and check for corrosion in the underbody, which can develop over two decades. The brake system, particularly rear calipers and discs, should be examined for binding or uneven wear, as these issues often arise in vehicles with high mileage. While the MOT history lacks direct references to these components, the vehicle’s age and usage history justify a thorough mechanical check to confirm the absence of latent faults not flagged in the recorded tests.
