2007 Toyota Auris 1.6L Petrol · YM07 AKX

The roadworthiness of this Toyota Auris is currently questionable following a failure on January 24, 2025, at 126,300 miles. While the vehicle maintained a clean record for several years, the most recent test result failing to pass suggests a mechanical or safety-related issue has not yet been addressed. The maintenance trend appeared stable between 2021 and late 2023, but the recent failure indicates the vehicle is now entering a phase where components are failing or requiring immediate attention. The mileage pattern is consistent with a nineteen-year-old vehicle, averaging approximately 6,600 miles per year. Between August 2021 at 112,074 miles and November 2023 at 122,282 miles, the car covered roughly 10,000 miles, representing a standard rate of use. The jump of 4,000 miles between the November 2023 test and January 2025 test shows a period of inactivity, though the overall age of the car increases the likelihood of rubber component degradation and structural corrosion regardless of the low distance driven. A buyer must investigate the specific cause of the January 2025 failure, as the record shows no recorded defects to explain the result. Because the previous tests passed without advisories, the sudden failure likely relates to a specific component such as a lighting malfunction, fluid leak, or an emissions issue. Given the vehicle's age, a physical inspection should focus on structural rust on the sills and subframe, as well as the condition of the suspension bushes and brake lines to ensure they have not perished or excessively oxidised during the periods of standing.
