2008 Volkswagen Crafter 2.5L Diesel · A1 BUE

The 2008 Volkswagen Crafter is currently roadworthy following its 2025-09-09 MOT, which recorded a pass at 177,784 miles. However, the same date shows a prior failure with no defects noted, creating ambiguity in its maintenance trajectory. Earlier tests from 2024 and 2023 consistently passed without issues, suggesting a stable period until late 2025. The alternating pass/fail results at the same mileage and date raise questions about testing accuracy or potential unresolved faults, though no specific mechanical failures were recorded. The vehicle’s mileage of 177,784 miles over 18 years equates to roughly 9,877 miles annually, aligning with typical usage for its age. Gaps between MOTs, such as the 12-month interval between 2023-08-25 and 2024-08-30, suggest irregular servicing. The lack of defects in passing tests indicates no critical failures, but the repeated failures without recorded issues imply possible oversights or minor faults that were not addressed. The data remains sparse, offering limited insight into long-term wear patterns. A buyer should prioritise inspecting the suspension system, particularly bushes and coil springs, given the vehicle’s age and mileage. Brake components, including calipers and discs, warrant scrutiny due to the high annual mileage, which accelerates wear. Structural rust, though not mentioned in MOT records, should be checked in underbody areas. The absence of recorded corrosion or major defects is positive, but the inconsistent MOT outcomes highlight the need for a thorough pre-purchase inspection to confirm the vehicle’s mechanical integrity.
