2016 Vauxhall Vivaro 1.6L Diesel · A22 WAW

High-mileage sustained usage defines this Vauxhall Vivaro, which has maintained a consistent track record of roadworthiness despite its heavy workload. The vehicle’s mechanical history shows a stable pattern of compliance, evidenced by its most recent clean pass on 2 June 2026. While the testing history is largely free of major failures or structural defects, a single advisory regarding nearside front shock absorber oil misting was noted on 21 May 2025. This indicates that while the vehicle is being maintained to a standard that avoids immediate failure, certain consumable suspension components are beginning to show signs of wear consistent with its service life. The recorded mileage of 204,120 miles at the time of the latest test represents a high annual accumulation of approximately 20,412 miles. For a commercial vehicle of this age, this usage profile suggests frequent, long-distance, or heavy-duty operation rather than short, urban trips or periods of inactivity. Mechanically, this level of mileage places significant cumulative stress on the drivetrain, engine internals, and various chassis linkages. Prospective buyers should account for the fact that high-mileage vehicles often require more frequent replacement of wear-and-tear items such as clutch components, turbocharger seals, and suspension bushings, even when the MOT history appears relatively clean. Given the advisory for oil misting on the nearside front shock absorber, a thorough inspection of the front suspension is necessary. During a test drive, pay close attention to the vehicle's handling over uneven surfaces or speed bumps. You should listen for any rhythmic knocking or clunking sounds coming from the front end, which could indicate that the shock absorber has progressed from light misting to a more significant seal failure. Additionally, observe if the vehicle exhibits any unusual bouncing or oscillations after hitting a bump, as this would suggest the damping properties of that unit have been compromised. Beyond the specific suspension advisory, the high mileage necessitates a close examination of the engine bay for any signs of oil or coolant weeping, as well as an inspection of the underside for exhaust corrosion or mounting wear. Check for any steering pull or vibration through the steering wheel at motorway speeds, which could signal issues with wheel bearings or steering geometry that often arise in high-mileage vans. Ensuring that all service intervals have been strictly adhered to is critical, as the MOT record only confirms the vehicle meets minimum safety standards and does not account for the preventative maintenance required to sustain a vehicle with this level of usage.
