2008 Vauxhall Vectra 1.9L Diesel · AA08 XSC

The Vauxhall Vectra currently holds a failed MOT status from the 11 November 2025 test at 129,668 miles, with the DVSA record showing no defects logged against that failure. Prior to this, the vehicle passed cleanly on 4 November 2024 at 123,291 miles after a failed attempt two days earlier at 123,289 miles, also with no defects recorded. The maintenance trend is difficult to classify as stable or worsening because the history is sparse and free of advisories, yet the most recent failure leaves the car unroadworthy until the unspecified fault is corrected. Annual mileage averages around 7,204 across the vehicle's eighteen-year life, which is typical for a car of this age. The records show steady use: 101,319 miles in October 2022, 111,200 miles in October 2023, and 123,291 miles by November 2024, equating to roughly 10,000 to 12,000 miles per year in that period. The jump to 129,668 miles by November 2025 reflects a slight reduction in annual use. The back-to-back November 2024 tests, failing then passing within three days, suggest a minor fault was rectified quickly rather than indicating neglect. Given the absence of recorded advisories on suspension bushes, brake discs, coil springs, or corrosion across all tests, the MOT data alone implies no chronic mechanical trend. The clean pass in 2023 at 111,200 miles and again in 2024 points to adequate statutory upkeep by prior owners. A buyer should not infer structural integrity issues from the record, but the unexplained November 2025 failure demands physical verification of the exact failure cause before purchase. In person, the buyer should confirm the reason for the latest failure through the VOSA failure sheet and inspect common Vectra weak points not always captured in a pass: subframe corrosion, droplink wear, and exhaust emissions. The two 2024 tests with no defects logged mean consumable condition such as tyre tread and wiper blades was acceptable then, but at 129,668 miles these fall due for renewal. A pre-purchase inspection remains essential given the current failed status.
