2008 Vauxhall Astra 1.8L Petrol · AB08 UKS

The Vauxhall Astra presents a currently roadworthy status, having passed the most recent test on 4 October 2023 at 102,435 miles with no defects recorded. The maintenance trend appears stable on paper, though the history shows erratic testing behaviour rather than a clean continuous record. The vehicle is approximately 18 years old with low average use of around 5,691 miles per year. Mileage accumulation has been minimal and irregular. Between the failed test on 21 April 2022 at 93,528 miles and the pass on 4 October 2023 at 102,435 miles, the car covered only 8,907 miles across 18 months. A notable anomaly occurs on 27 April 2022, where the same mileage of 93,533 appears for both a fail and a pass on the same day, suggesting administrative re-testing rather than mechanical correction. The DVSA data contains no advisories or defects across any entry, which is sparse for a vehicle of this age and offers little insight into wear patterns. A buyer should still commission an independent inspection of structural corrosion, suspension bushes, and brake disc condition, as the absence of recorded faults does not confirm component health on a 2008 chassis. The repeated failures in April 2022 with zero defects listed imply documentation errors or withdrawn tests rather than resolved mechanical faults. Given the low mileage and long idle periods implied by the sparse record, check for perished rubber components, seized calipers, and exhaust system degradation. The clean MOT trail provides no evidence of recurring mechanical trends but offers no assurance of proactive upkeep by previous owners.
