2004 Ford Focus C-MAX 1.8L Petrol · AD04 JWK

The 2004 Ford Focus C-MAX presents as roadworthy with a stable maintenance trend. The most recent test on 18 September 2025 at 158,110 miles returned a pass with no defects recorded, and the three prior annual tests from 2022 to 2024 also passed cleanly. The vehicle shows no worsening faults or recurring advisory patterns across the five-year record. Mileage accumulation is consistent with typical use for a 22-year-old car. The record shows 137,499 miles in September 2022, rising to 140,267 by September 2023, then 149,211 by September 2024, and 158,110 by September 2025. That equates to roughly 7,000 to 9,000 miles per year, with no sudden jumps or standing gaps. The clean pass history across this period suggests the previous owner kept basic statutory testing current. One anomaly warrants scrutiny. On 17 September 2024 the vehicle failed and passed on the same day at 149,211 miles, both with no defects recorded. A same-day fail with no listed defect often points to an administrative error or a retest after a minor procedural issue rather than a mechanical fault, but the buyer should confirm the failure reason with DVSA to rule out a suppressed advisory. Given the absence of flagged suspension bushes, brake discs, corrosion, or exhaust issues in the official data, no specific mechanical intervention is indicated by the record. A buyer should still commission an independent inspection of structural integrity and consumable wear such as tyres and wiper blades, as these are not always captured in a clean MOT pass on an older high-mileage vehicle.
