2004 Suzuki Jimny 1.3L Petrol · AG04 XVL

The 2004 Suzuki Jimny presents as roadworthy with a stable maintenance trend, confirmed by the most recent DVSA test on 8 January 2026 at 40,803 miles which recorded no defects. Every annual examination from 2022 through 2026 returned a pass with no advisories, showing the vehicle has avoided recurring mechanical or structural faults across the five-year traceable window. The odometer shows 40,803 miles against 22 years of age, an average of roughly 1,855 miles per year. The MOT sequence supports genuinely light use: the tester logged 39,133 miles in January 2022, 39,453 in January 2023, 39,892 in January 2024, 40,196 in January 2025, and 40,803 in January 2026. That is under 700 miles added in each twelve-month period. No gaps or sudden accumulation appear in the record, though the clean history offers little insight into components prone to deterioration through standing rather than wear. A buyer should still commission a physical inspection beneath the chassis. Long-term low mileage and outdoor storage common to Jimnys of this era invite corrosion on sills, chassis rails, and suspension mounting points even when MOT testers log no advisory. The ladder-frame structure and coil-sprung beam axles tolerate neglect poorly once surface rust establishes. Check the brake calipers and flexible hoses for sticking after disuse, and verify tyre sidewall condition given the original-fitment age risk. The drivetrain oils, differential seals, and transfer-box output shafts warrant scrutiny despite the unbroken pass record, as fluid degradation from time rather than mileage is not captured by MOT outcomes.
