2012 Land Rover Freelander 2.2L Diesel · AG12 JBZ

The Freelander presents as roadworthy with a stable maintenance trend. The most recent test on 1 July 2025 at 120,900 miles returned a pass with no defects recorded, following a clean pass on 8 July 2024 at 113,125 miles. Prior to that, the vehicle failed on 1 July 2024 at 113,108 miles and again on 10 July 2023 at 105,139 miles, though the DVSA record lists no specific defects against either failure. The absence of advisories across all tests suggests no outstanding wear items such as tyres, brake discs, or suspension bushes were flagged by testers. Mileage accumulation is consistent with typical use for a 14-year-old vehicle. The record shows 105,139 miles in July 2023, rising to 113,125 miles by July 2024, then 120,900 miles by July 2025. That equates to roughly 7,900 to 8,000 miles per year, marginally below the 8,636 annual average implied by the odometer. The data is sparse, with only five entries across two years, but no rapid accumulation or unexplained gaps appear between tests. The two failures dated 10 July 2023 and 1 July 2024 carry no recorded defects, which points to administrative or presentation issues at test rather than mechanical fault. A buyer should still verify the vehicle was not failed on minor consumables later corrected off-record. Given the clean advisory history, the focus should fall on structural integrity and corrosion beneath the sills and subframes, as Freelanders of this era are prone to hidden rust. In person, inspect the front suspension arms and rear trailing bushings for play, and confirm the braking system shows no binding calipers or worn discs. Check the exhaust emissions against expected diesel norms for the 2.2 TD4 unit. The record implies previous owners kept the car to a basic pass standard with no deferred maintenance surfacing in the official data.
