2012 BMW 116 1.6L Petrol · AG12 KMF

The vehicle’s most recent MOT on 2025-10-16 at 38,287 miles recorded a pass with no defects, indicating a stable roadworthiness status. However, the preceding test on 2025-10-15 at the same mileage resulted in a failure despite no defects being listed, suggesting an anomaly or procedural error. The prior MOT in 2024-10-24 at 34,196 miles also passed without issues, confirming a consistent absence of critical faults over the past 18 months. This pattern implies the car has been maintained to a standard that meets legal requirements, though the unexplained failure warrants scrutiny of the testing process. The vehicle’s mileage of 38,287 miles at 14 years old equates to an average of 2,735 miles annually, aligning with low usage for its age. However, a significant jump from 34,196 miles in 2024 to 38,287 miles by 2025 suggests accelerated usage in the past year, potentially increasing wear on components like tyres, brakes, and suspension. The sparse MOT history, with only three entries spanning 13 months, limits insight into long-term trends. The absence of recurring defects in the recorded tests supports the conclusion that the car has not exhibited systemic mechanical issues. A buyer should verify the cause of the 2025-10-15 failure, as it remains unexplained by the provided data. While no defects were listed, the proximity of the failure and subsequent pass raises questions about the testing accuracy. Inspections should focus on suspension bushes, coil springs, and brake discs for wear, given the mileage and age. Structural integrity and corrosion, particularly in body seams and underbody panels, warrant attention. The lack of exhaust emissions or binding calipers in the record is reassuring, but a pre-purchase inspection should confirm these systems function as expected.
